Dear Friends and Neighbors,
It’s hard to believe nearly two months have already passed since the 2026 legislative session concluded on March 12. Even though I have not been to Olympia much these last two months, I have still been busy representing you in the 18th District.
A lot happened during the 2026 legislative session, and you can get an in-depth recap of some of the biggest stories – including the Democrats decision to pass the first-ever state income tax – by reading my 2024 session recap update. You can also read my end-of-session newsletter by clicking here.
As with any session, this one had some positive outcomes, but the majority party Democrats also passed several bad bills, and the Legislature missed out on numerous opportunities to help Washingtonians. That means the many pressing issues facing our state still need to be addressed.
During the interim, I will be working to improve public safety through closer coordination with local agencies, support better educational outcomes by prioritizing student achievement and workforce readiness, and strengthen our business climate by reducing obstacles for small businesses and encouraging job creation.
We must work together to find real solutions for these issues as we work to fix Washington.
Election-year restrictions
This is an election year, which means beginning on May 4, I will not be able to send you email updates until after the November general election results are certified. In fact, due to election-year restrictions, all my legislative communications will be limited or restricted over the next six months in compliance with state ethics laws, unless a special session is called.
However, that does not mean we can’t communicate. I am still your full-time state representative and can respond to constituents who contact me throughout the year. So, please continue reaching out via email or phone, or by setting up an in-person meeting. As always, I will respond as quickly as I can.
